About the position

The Kendall Group is seeking a talented, creative, and self-motivated individual for the SQL Developer position. This role is integral to the Data and Analytics team, reporting directly to the Manager of Data and Analytics. The SQL Developer will be responsible for developing, optimizing, and ensuring the stability of both new and legacy SQL data, jobs, and scripts. The position requires the individual to assist in creating SQL solutions that integrate on-premise and web-hosted environments, ultimately providing analytics and reporting for the organization and contributing to a connected enterprise. In this role, the SQL Developer will interpret business requirements to design, develop, and test processes that ensure high-quality data and optimal system performance. The individual will independently research and make recommendations for improvements to enhance methodology, capability, ease-of-use, and efficiency. Additionally, the SQL Developer will assist in providing support to the Enterprise architecture design and roadmap, design and implement database solutions to store and organize data efficiently, and collaborate with peers on multiple projects in an agile environment. The SQL Developer will also be expected to develop strong working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders to support the design and implementation of new solutions that leverage SQL Server objects. Responsibilities include planning and coordinating the migration of legacy SQL Server data objects, making modifications and enhancements to existing queries and applications for error correction and performance improvement, documenting new and existing data warehouse resources and architecture, performing data analysis to identify trends and insights, overseeing SQL Server monitoring and scheduling, and managing SQL backup and retention jobs and procedures. Other duties may be assigned as necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret business requirements to design, develop & test processes that ensure high quality data & optimal system performance
  • Independently research & make recommendations for improvements to enhance methodology, capability, ease-of-use & efficiency

  • Oversee SQL Server monitoring & scheduling
  • Manage SQL backup and retention jobs and procedures
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • 4 years' experience with Microsoft SQL Server 2016 or later
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science (or related field) or equivalent experience
  • Proficiency in Visual Studio, SQL Server Installation and configuration tools, SSMS, Microsoft Office applications (particularly Excel)
  • Strong understanding of CRUD operations, collaborative source code management systems, SSIS and SSAS project experience
  • Strong understanding of database design principles, normalization, and data modeling
  • Very detail-oriented and organized, with the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work well collaboratively with the entire organization; flexible with change of demands and priorities
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to present information in a manner that non-technical staff can understand

Nice-to-haves

  • 4+ years of experience with Microsoft SQL 2019
  • Database Administrative role experience
  • SSAS Tabular and Multidimensional data model experience
