About the position

The SQL Developer position at the Department of Health/Mental Hygiene involves designing, developing, and maintaining SQL databases to support applications and data analysis. Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain SQL databases to support applications and data analysis.
• Write complex SQL queries, stored procedures, triggers, and scripts to ensure data integrity and performance.
• Optimize database performance by tuning queries and designing indexing strategies.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and implement database solutions.
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve database issues in a timely manner.
• Perform database migrations, upgrades, and backup/restoration processes.
• Analyze and improve existing database systems for scalability and performance.
• Ensure database security and data privacy compliance.

Requirements

• A master's degree in computer science and three years of progressively responsible experience in IT, including database administration and applications development.
• A baccalaureate degree and four years of progressively responsible experience in IT, including database administration and applications development.
• A high school diploma and six years of progressively responsible experience in IT, including database administration and applications development.
• At least three years of experience in IT, including eighteen months in an administrative, managerial, or supervisory capacity.

Nice-to-haves

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
• Proven experience as an SQL Developer or Database Developer.
• Strong proficiency in SQL and relational databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, MS SQL Server).
• Experience with database design, normalization, and performance tuning.
• Familiarity with ETL processes and data integration.
• Understanding of data security best practices and compliance standards.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
