About the position

The SQL Developer position is a senior role focused on optimizing database performance within a hybrid work environment. The candidate will collaborate with various IT teams to enhance application and database efficiency, particularly in high transaction volume settings. The role requires extensive experience in SQL Server database development and administration, with a strong emphasis on performance tuning and troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

• Work directly with IT associates to optimize application/database performance.
• Provide advanced database development experience with Microsoft SQL Server.
• Support senior-level database administration tasks including installation, upgrading, backup and recovery, and performance tuning.
• Evaluate SQL Server query performance and provide guidance on query redesign and index modifications.
• Utilize tools like Idera SQL Diagnostic Monitor and SQL Server Profiler for database query evaluation and tuning.
• Create performance documentation and best practices for database teams.
• Participate in evaluations and recommendations for database solutions based on business requirements.
• Monitor and measure database performance components and assist in capacity planning.
• Escalate technical issues as required.
• Engage in database tuning efforts as necessary.

Requirements

• BA/BS in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Strong experience in SQL with queries and server management.
• Extensive Java development background is ideal.
• Performance tuning experience with SQL queries is essential.
• Industry-recognized technical certification preferred (e.g., SQL, MCDBA).
• Working knowledge of database file structure and performance analysis.
• Ten or more years of related IT experience as a SQL Server database administrator.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with Mule is a plus.
