About the position

The SQL Developer position is focused on enhancing the existing workforce training data collection system. The successful candidate will gain a comprehensive understanding of the current system, including its data elements, specifications, and population, to effectively contribute to the development of a new application. This role requires collaboration with various stakeholders, including information technology staff, research teams, workgroups, institutions, and private career schools, to ensure that the new system meets the needs of all parties involved. In this position, the SQL Developer will be responsible for performing coding in a SQL environment to build out the workforce training data collection system. This includes developing SQL queries, stored procedures, data loading processes, and custom reports based on specific research requirements and data element specifications. The developer will also be tasked with building comparisons and validations between the new workforce training system and other established data collection systems used by the client. Additionally, the SQL Developer will develop a structured process for maintaining an internal inventory of approved workforce programs. This role also involves creating and maintaining user and operations documentation throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring that all documentation is up-to-date and accessible until project completion.

Responsibilities

  • Gain an understanding of the existing workforce training data collection system and its specifications.
  • Collaborate with IT staff, research teams, workgroups, institutions, and stakeholders.
  • Perform coding in a SQL environment to build the workforce training data collection system.
  • Develop SQL queries, stored procedures, and data loading processes based on research requirements.
  • Build comparisons and validations between the new system and established data collection systems.
  • Develop a structure for an internal workforce program inventory of approved programs.
  • Maintain user and operations documentation until project completion.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in information technology or a related field from an accredited college or university.
  • At least eight years of experience in SQL development, including designing, testing, implementing, and maintaining application systems.
  • Strong working knowledge of SQL database configurations and permissions.
  • Proficient in MS SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS).
  • Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Strong experience working as a team member and translating specifications into code.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to interact positively with all stakeholders.
