About the position

Our client located in Playa del Rey, CA is seeking a talented individual for the position of SQL /.Net Database Architecture Manager. This is a direct-hire permanent opportunity that requires a highly technical individual with strong communication skills and management experience. The successful candidate will be responsible for meeting with customers to determine their requirements, effectively communicating these requirements to the internal architectural team, and managing the overall implementation process to ensure that all groups are aligned towards a common goal. The role demands a strategic thinker who possesses a clear understanding of the desired end-state while being capable of delegating specific tasks to the appropriate team members. The candidate must excel in problem-solving, incident analysis, and coordinating joint troubleshooting efforts among various groups. Close collaboration with developers and database team members is essential to design, develop, and enhance Microsoft SQL Server 2005/2008 database solutions. Additionally, the candidate will work with developers and business users to define requirements, perform analysis and design, and implement robust, maintainable solutions that meet business needs. The SQL /.Net Database Architecture Manager will lead and participate in reviews and quality assurance processes to ensure adherence to data architectures and standards, enforcing policies and procedures among team members. Responsibilities also include creating and maintaining conceptual, logical, and physical database models, developing SSIS packages for data import/export, enhancing stored procedures, and writing ad-hoc SQL queries to support report requests. The role involves designing and developing meaningful business reports (BI), preparing data for job runs, and supporting jobs in process while troubleshooting, analyzing, and repairing job issues.

Responsibilities

  • Meet with customers to determine requirements and communicate them to the internal architectural team.

  • Troubleshoot, analyze, and repair job issues.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or equivalent preferred.
  • 7 - 10 years of database development experience.
  • In-depth SQL knowledge, including advanced tuning skills.
  • Expertise in Microsoft SQL Server 2005 and 2008, OLTP and OLAP.
  • Experience with Microsoft SQL Server 2005 and SSIS.
  • Experience developing custom ad hoc reports using SQL 2005, SQL Reporting Services, SSIS, or Crystal Reports.
  • Experience with HP Polyserve.
  • Knowledge of XML and C# technologies.
  • Experience mapping multiple data sources from various data formats and normalizing the data into SQL 2005 repositories.
  • Experience maintaining and optimizing large databases.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work well in small teams.
