About the position

The SQL /.Net Database Architecture Manager will oversee the design, development, and implementation of database solutions while ensuring effective communication between customers and the internal architectural team. This role requires a strategic thinker with strong technical skills, capable of managing a team and coordinating efforts across various groups to achieve a unified goal.

Responsibilities

  • Meet with customers to determine requirements and communicate them to the internal architectural team.
  • Manage the overall implementation to ensure all groups are working toward a single goal.
  • Delegate specific tasks to appropriate team members while maintaining a clear understanding of the desired end-state.
  • Solve problems and analyze incidents, coordinating joint troubleshooting efforts with various groups.
  • Collaborate with developers and database team members to design, develop, and enhance Microsoft SQL Server 2005/2008 database solutions.
  • Define requirements with developers and business users, perform analysis and design, and implement robust, maintainable solutions.
  • Lead and participate in reviews and quality assurance processes to ensure adherence to data architectures and standards.
  • Enforce policies and procedures among team members.
  • Create and maintain conceptual, logical, and physical database models.
  • Create SSIS packages to import/export data and load/process data.
  • Develop and enhance stored procedures and write ad-hoc SQL queries to support report requests.
  • Design and develop meaningful business reports (BI), either web-based or thick client.
  • Prepare data for job runs and support jobs in process.
  • Troubleshoot, analyze, and repair job issues.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or equivalent preferred.
  • 7 - 10 years of database development experience.
  • In-depth SQL knowledge, including advanced tuning skills.
  • Expertise in Microsoft SQL Server 2005 and 2008, OLTP and OLAP.
  • Experience with Microsoft SQL Server 2005 and SSIS.
  • Experience developing custom ad hoc reports using SQL 2005, SQL Reporting Services, SSIS, or Crystal Reports.
  • Experience with HP Polyserve.
  • Knowledge of XML and C# technologies.
  • Experience mapping multiple data sources from various formats and normalizing data into SQL 2005 repositories.
  • Experience maintaining and optimizing large databases.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work well in small teams.
  • Excellent problem-solving capabilities.
  • Independent and self-motivated.
  • Strong management and communication skills.
