About the position

The SQL Server Administrator role at Cognizant focuses on managing and optimizing database operations within cloud and on-premises environments. This position is integral to supporting high-volume OLTP systems and ensuring robust performance through effective database management and automation. The role requires a strong background in various database platforms and cloud technologies, emphasizing teamwork and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage and optimize database operations for high-volume OLTP systems.
• Design and manage databases in cloud and on-premises environments.
• Perform SQL and database performance tuning and troubleshooting.
• Document and maintain database policies, procedures, and standards.
• Create automation for provisioning and administration tasks.
• Collaborate with teams to support cloud-driven modernization initiatives.

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience in Database Operations.
• Master's degree in Computer Science or Information Technology preferred.
• Experience with MS SQL Server, Azure Synapse, PostgreSQL, and Azure SQL.
• Robust knowledge of Azure Data Factory, Analysis Service, and Microsoft Fabric.
• Strong understanding of data warehouse systems and MPP database architecture.
• Hands-on experience with SQL and database performance tuning.
• Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (IaC), CI/CD Pipelines, Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, and Azure Resource Manager.
• Proficiency in scripting languages such as PowerShell and Python.
