About the position

ARGO is a leading provider of software and analytics solutions for both the financial services and healthcare industries. The SQL Server BI Developer is responsible for designing, developing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and deploying BI solutions built using the SQL Server BI stack. This role involves managing customer-facing issues and incidents within their assigned areas. The SQL Server BI Developer works under the guidance of the Business Intelligence Analyst Sr and collaborates with business analysts and customers to gather requirements, translate them into technical specifications, and ensure the successful delivery of BI solutions. The position requires a significant time allocation towards BI solution development and maintenance (50%-60%), customer support (15%-20%), requirements gathering and project management (10%-15%), server management and configuration (5-10%), and testing, debugging, and documentation (10%). The SQL Server BI Developer enhances ARGO's product and service offerings by delivering actionable insights through advanced Business Intelligence solutions. Developing reports with SSRS and streamlining data integration with SSIS ensures clients receive timely, accurate information. By optimizing T-SQL queries, the role improves performance and reliability, contributing to ARGO's commitment to high-quality, data-driven products and services, and maintaining its competitive edge. The SQL Server BI Developer plays a crucial role in the Product and Customer segment by transforming data into actionable insights that drive product excellence. Responsibilities

  • Design and manage BI infrastructure, including development, documentation, and unit testing of BI assets across ARGO's business lines.
  • Create, debug, customize, and evaluate SSRS reports, Integration Services Packages, and SQL Server databases.
  • Partner with business analysts and developers to define, document, and maintain new and existing customer reports, contributing to system and client documentation.
  • Interact with external customers and senior company management to address reporting needs and issues.
  • Build, maintain, and debug reporting infrastructure for business applications, including Healthcare, Teller Payments, Sales & Service, Lending & Commercial Lending lines of business.
  • Provide regular status reports on assigned tasks to the Data Architect and Senior Business Intelligence Analyst.
  • Assist QA in creating and validating reporting artifacts and deliverables.
  • Research and resolve code defects of varying complexity.
  • Design, build, and test complex SSIS data transformation packages.
  • Write and update documentation for BI infrastructure, including technical documents for ARGO's reports, SSIS packages, and client-facing materials.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of technical experience with Microsoft SQL Server, T-SQL Integration Services (SSIS), and Services (SSRS).
  • Expertise in writing complex T-SQL queries.
  • Expertise in SQL Server Reporting Services.
  • Expertise in SQL Server Integration Services.
  • Expertise in performance tuning T-SQL queries.
  • Strong understanding of relational data modeling principles and design concepts.
  • Good understanding of SQL Server Analysis Services and OLAP/Multi-Dimensional modeling.
  • Good understanding of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and JIRA.
  • Good understanding of deploying Visual Studio build artifacts using SQL Server deployment tools (rs.exe, sqlpackage, dtutil, Microsoft.AnalysisServices.Deployment).
  • Working knowledge of source control systems.
  • Experience in executing unit and QA testing, writing test scripts, and cases.
  • Excellent quantitative, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience working with customers on requirements and design.
  • Ability to interpret and translate business requirements into technical specifications.
