About the position

Workstate is seeking a SQL Server Database Administrator (DBA) to work remotely on a contract basis, supporting a client in the government sector. The role involves ensuring best practices in database management, performance monitoring, and providing technical assistance to application development teams.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure best practices in database planning, design, configuration, performance, and capacity planning.
  • Monitor daily activities and performance of complex SQL environments, analyze technical problems, recommend adjustments, and implement approved solutions.
  • Provide technical assistance to the application development area and co-workers regarding SQL design and programming.
  • Configure SQL services such as security, JDBC, and clusters.
  • Plan, install, and coordinate SQL Server releases, migrations, upgrades, and maintenance.
  • Build new environments as needed to support applications.
  • Coordinate with network, IIS administrators, and storage groups for SQL server-based configurations.
  • Develop technical documents, project plans, and tasks, and interact with customers for proposed solutions.
  • Provide non-production and production support for deploying code and assist in troubleshooting and resolving application issues.
  • Support DevOps tools including Ansible, Jenkins, Nexis, Mavin, Bitbucket, Kony Mobile, and Nginx.

Requirements

  • 9+ years of experience within MS SQL Server environments.
  • Previous experience providing DBA support for distributed servers in a multi-datacenter environment including virtual machine servers.
