About the position

Wurth IT USA is seeking multiple experienced and talented SQL Server Database Administrators (DBAs) to join our dynamic team. As a Database Administrator at Wurth IT USA, you will be responsible for designing, administering, and maintaining database systems and their backups. This is a full-time hybrid role, requiring you to work three days onsite at our Chicago area office, with the remaining days being flexible. Our company is a brand-new branch of a global IT Service Provider, Wurth IT, which has over 1,100 employees worldwide. In this role, you will be an engaged part of our database team, responsible for various database systems around SQL Server. Your duties will include database design, administration, migration, and maintenance of database systems and their backups. You will also install and operate highly available database systems, carry out performance analyses and database tuning, prepare error analyses and documentation, and support specialist departments and customers in the use of database systems. This position requires a strong understanding of relational databases, particularly SQL Server, and a good knowledge of Windows Server. Additionally, an interest in MongoDB, Azure SQL, and Oracle Database is beneficial as you will be monitoring existing instances and proactively identifying bottlenecks.

Responsibilities

  • Design, administer, and maintain database systems and their backups.

  • Support specialist departments and customers in the use of database systems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field.
  • In-depth knowledge of the administration of relational databases, specifically SQL Server databases.
  • Good knowledge of Windows Server.
  • 3+ years of experience as an SQL Server DBA.
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Nice-to-haves

  • Interest in MongoDB and Azure SQL.
  • Familiarity with Oracle Database.
