About the position

Information Technology Strategies, INC. is a government IT solutions provider servicing commercial and government initiatives in various parts of the United States. We are currently seeking a SQL Server Database Administrator to work for our company, specifically for the Naval Health Research Center. This position requires eligibility for a U.S. Government IT-I / IT-II / SECRET / TOP SECRET Clearance, which includes U.S. Citizenship, a clear criminal history check, and no pending or recent bankruptcy. The SQL Server Database Administrator will be responsible for the installation, configuration, maintenance, and performance optimization of SQL databases, ensuring their availability, security, and efficient operation. This role is critical in supporting the database infrastructure that underpins our operations and client services. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Microsoft SQL Server, with at least 3 years of experience in stored procedures, synonyms, indexing, and performance tuning. Additionally, experience with Microsoft Access database migration is essential. The candidate must also possess hands-on experience with .NET, C++, C#, F#, Visual Basic, and Python, demonstrating a well-rounded skill set in programming and database management. A bachelor's degree in information technology, Cybersecurity, Data Science, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field is required. The position is based in San Diego, CA, and candidates must be willing to work on-site and adhere to an alternative work schedule, which includes 9-hour days between 6:00 am and 6:00 pm with alternate Fridays off.

Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, and maintain SQL databases.
  • Optimize database performance and ensure availability.
  • Implement security measures for database protection.
  • Migrate Microsoft Access databases to SQL Server.
  • Develop and manage stored procedures and indexing strategies.
  • Conduct performance tuning and troubleshooting of SQL databases.
  • Collaborate with development teams to support application database needs.

Requirements

  • Must be eligible for a U.S. Government IT-I / IT-II / SECRET / TOP SECRET Clearance.
  • 3+ years of experience with Microsoft SQL Server, including stored procedures, synonyms, indexing, and performance tuning.
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with .NET, C++, C#, F#, Visual Basic, and Python.
  • Bachelor's degree in information technology, Cybersecurity, Data Science, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Willingness to work on-site in San Diego, CA.
  • Ability to work an alternative work schedule with 9-hour days.
