About the position

The SQL Server Database Administrator position at TriosysIT Inc. is a dynamic role that requires a skilled professional to manage and optimize SQL Server databases within an Azure environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for a variety of tasks that include database administration, performance tuning, and collaboration with other IT professionals to ensure the smooth operation of business applications. This role is essential for maintaining high performance and reliability of database systems, which are critical to the organization's operations. In this position, the Database Administrator will work closely with development teams to migrate stored procedures, functions, and views, as well as review and rewrite SQL queries for optimal performance. The role demands a strong understanding of database design principles, including indexing and constraints, to enhance the efficiency of database operations. The candidate will also be expected to analyze complex queries for deadlocks and provide guidance on best practices for handling large datasets using table variables, temporary tables, and common table expressions (CTEs). The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills to effectively report on project status and coordinate with other database administrators and developers. They will need to stay updated with the latest database technologies and features, ensuring that the organization leverages the best tools available. Additionally, the Database Administrator will be responsible for producing technical documentation and testing database processes for future enhancements and bug fixes, all while ensuring customer satisfaction through timely and courteous service.

Responsibilities

  • Understand the domain and business processes to successfully perform SQL Server database administration tasks in Azure.
  • Provide work status and coordinate with other Database Administrators and developers.
  • Review and rewrite high performance SQL queries using Joins, Cross Apply, Aggregate Queries, Merge, Pivot.
  • Migrate Stored Procedures, Functions and Views.
  • Review database designs to identify proper indexing and constraints.
  • Perform SQL query tuning and performance optimization on complex inefficient queries.
  • Provide guidance in the use of table variable, temporary table, CTE appropriately to deal with large datasets.
  • Analyze complex queries for any deadlock resulting due to conflicts.
  • Collaborate with other DBAs on database design and performance enhancements.
  • Debug existing code and troubleshoot for issues.
  • Keep up to date with the latest database features, techniques, and technologies.
  • Support current business applications including the implementation of bug fixes as needed.
  • Able to meet deadlines set in project planning.
  • Effectively communicate progress through the project execution phase.
  • Follow industry and company standard coding practices.
  • Produce technical and application documentation.
  • Test database process for future enhancements and bug fixes.
  • Assist support analysts and developers with issues they are unable to resolve.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction by meeting customer needs in a courteous and timely manner.

Requirements

  • Ability to work in a dynamic environment with changing requirements.
  • Good communication and presentation skills.
  • Working experience as a SQL Server database administrator in Azure.
  • Working experience using DevOps CI/CD in Azure.
