About The Position
Iyan, Inc. is seeking a SQL Server DBA to join our team in Lansing, MI. This contract position offers an hourly rate between $65 and $75, and the ideal candidate will assist with our Sybase 15.7 database management. The primary goal of this role is to support our senior DBAs by taking on various tasks, particularly during after-hours implementations, to help reduce the workload and improve efficiency. The DBA will also be responsible for performing weekly data fixes, which typically occur on Thursdays and Fridays. The successful candidate will have a solid background in Unix, as they will be required to run and develop CRON jobs using command line tools. Familiarity with Sybase ASE 15.7 is essential, and while we are looking for someone who can operate at a junior DBA level, the ability to assist with SQL Server tasks is also crucial. This role will involve working with clusters and managing disaster recovery processes across our development, test, and production environments. A strong emphasis will be placed on candidates who have experience migrating databases from Sybase to SQL Server, as this is a key component of the position. In addition to technical skills, the candidate should possess strong problem-solving abilities and be able to collaborate effectively with team members to design and optimize database structures for improved performance and efficiency. This position requires a commitment to ensuring high availability of databases and implementing effective strategies to achieve this goal.
