About the position

We are seeking a skilled SQL Server Database Administrator (DBA) with extensive experience in managing SQL Server databases on AWS. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in database administration, particularly in handling extra-large databases with high availability and real-time replication capabilities. This role requires a hands-on system engineer who can effectively manage both OLTP and OLAP systems using distributed databases. The successful candidate will be responsible for troubleshooting various SQL Server issues, including but not limited to system locks, fragmentation, index reorganization and rebuild, system log issues, replication delays, and ghost records. In addition to troubleshooting, the DBA will be expected to oversee SQL Server migrations from on-premises environments to AWS, as well as upgrades from older SQL Server versions to newer ones. Expertise in Database Availability Groups (DAG) setup and troubleshooting DAG-related issues is essential. The position offers an opportunity to work with cutting-edge technology and contribute to the optimization and performance of our database systems. Candidates should have relevant database administrator certifications from Microsoft or a recognized organization, demonstrating their commitment to professional development and expertise in the field. Responsibilities

  • Manage SQL Server databases on AWS, ensuring high availability and performance.
  • Troubleshoot SQL Server issues including system locks, fragmentation, and replication delays.
  • Oversee SQL Server migrations from on-premises to AWS and from older versions to newer versions.
  • Set up and troubleshoot Database Availability Groups (DAG) and related issues.
  • Perform index reorganization and rebuilds to optimize database performance.
  • Monitor system logs and address any issues that arise.

Requirements

  • Experience handling SQL Server on AWS.
  • Database administrator certifications from Microsoft or a reputable organization.
  • Hands-on experience managing extra-large databases with high availability.
  • Ability to troubleshoot SQL Server issues, including system locks and fragmentation.
  • Experience in SQL Server migration from on-prem to AWS and version upgrades.
