About the position

The Senior SQL Snowflake Data Analyst/Data Visualization Analyst will provide analysis and leadership on data analysis projects across the DPI enterprise, focusing on School Business Data. The enterprise currently operates within a complex, multi-platform data environment that includes legacy Mainframe systems, Amazon AWS/Snowflake, and Microsoft Azure, alongside data visualization tools such as Tableau and Power BI. The technologies in use encompass Oracle, DB2, MySQL, and SQL Server, as well as desktop applications like MS Access and MS Excel. The primary goal of this role is to establish an enterprise data model that standardizes shared data entities and attributes, while also aiming to standardize database management systems and tools. The data related to School Business and HR will be hosted in Snowflake, primarily utilizing SQL Server. In this role, you will provide insights to other data analysts, data architects, and application developers, ensuring the creation of an enterprise data model that aligns with the client's business and technical requirements. Your expertise will be crucial in guiding the data analysis projects and ensuring that the data management practices meet the necessary standards. You will also be responsible for providing subject matter expertise in various data-related initiatives, contributing to the overall data strategy of the organization.

Responsibilities

• Provide analysis and leadership on data analysis projects focusing on School Business Data.
• Establish an enterprise data model to standardize shared data entities and attributes.
• Standardize database management systems and tools across the enterprise.
• Collaborate with data analysts, data architects, and application developers to create an enterprise data model that meets business and technical requirements.
• Provide subject matter expertise in data analysis and visualization.
• Design and deliver data mapping specifications for large reporting platforms.
• Write and maintain business rules using SQL logic.
• Execute projects in an Agile / Hybrid environment.

Requirements

• 5 years of experience with SQL databases and related ETL/validations in Snowflake and data visualization using Tableau (and also Power BI).
• 5 years of understanding of different database platforms: Oracle, SQL Server, DB2, and MS Access.
• 5 years of understanding of Data Warehousing and data mining.
• 5 years of understanding of modeling strategies (dimensional, snowflake, relational, unstructured).
• 5 years of experience designing and delivering data mapping specifications for large reporting platforms.
• 5 years of demonstrated experience in writing ad-hoc SQL statements.
• 5 years of proven experience with ERD/Data Modelling tools (Toad or others).
• 5 years of experience with data reporting tools, especially Tableau (and preferably also Power BI, Viya, others).
