About the position

The Senior Commercial Account Executive position is a consultative outside sales role within the Armstrong Business Division. This position is focused on selling commercial-level telecommunication products and services, which include Advanced Voice, UCaaS, Fiber-based Dedicated Internet, Metro Ethernet, and additional services as assigned within a defined geographic area. The role requires a proactive approach to sales, emphasizing the importance of understanding customer needs and providing tailored solutions to small and mid-sized business customers. In this position, the individual will be responsible for self-generating new leads through various methods such as cold calling, premise visits, networking, and attending industry events. The role also involves managing contractual renewals for existing enterprise customers, ensuring customer retention, and maintaining expert competitive intelligence within the assigned territories. The Senior Account Executive will be accountable for forecasting and achieving monthly sales and revenue quotas, which necessitates a strong understanding of the communication needs of clients and the ability to design effective solutions through comprehensive customer needs analysis. Additionally, the role requires meticulous follow-up, preparation of sales proposals, client presentations, and completion of all necessary paperwork to ensure the successful execution of agreements. Building and maintaining positive client relationships is crucial, as is the ability to collaborate with other operational departments. The Senior Account Executive will also be responsible for maintaining sales databases to report client information and sales activity, monitoring competitive activity and market conditions, and providing timely feedback and suggestions to management regarding the competitive landscape. Adherence to company standards and professionalism is expected at all times, and some travel will be required for this position.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct proactive consultative selling of Armstrong Business Division services to small and mid-sized business customers.
  • Self-generate new leads by proactively contacting potential customers through cold calls, premise visits, networking, and attending industry events.
  • Manage contractual renewals of existing enterprise customers, including retention responsibilities.
  • Maintain expert competitive intelligence within assigned territories.
  • Forecast and achieve monthly sales and revenue quotas.
  • Understand the communication needs of small and mid-sized business customers and design solutions through customer needs analysis.
  • Follow up, prepare sales proposals, client presentations, and complete all required paperwork in its entirety to see the sale through to execution.
  • Develop and maintain positive client relationships and ensure client retention.
  • Collaborate with other operational departments as needed.
  • Maintain all sales databases necessary to report client information and sales activity.
  • Monitor competitive activity and market conditions, providing timely feedback and suggestions to management regarding the competitive marketplace.
  • Adhere to all company standards and business professionalism.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience preferred.
  • 4+ years of business-to-business outside sales experience, preferably selling telecommunication or technical-related products and/or services.
  • Effective relationship management and negotiation skills.
