About the position

The Professional Services Veterinarian plays a crucial role in supporting the company's commitment to healthier animals by serving as a coach, leader, and advisor to both internal and external customers. This field-based position requires a strong understanding of animal health products and the ability to communicate their value effectively. The veterinarian will work closely with the Regional Leadership Team and various stakeholders to enhance the company's portfolio and drive business success in the Indiana-Illinois region.

Responsibilities

  • Function as an integral member of the Regional Leadership Team supporting territory managers.
  • Prepare and deliver technical lectures on the product line to key customers, strategic accounts, and professional veterinary organizations.
  • Offer solutions that align with customer needs and business priorities.
  • Partner with the Regional Sales Manager to develop and execute effective business strategies.
  • Meet with key opinion leaders in clinical and university settings to discuss the company's portfolio and potential new business opportunities.
  • Represent the company at veterinary schools and associations and conferences.
  • Serve as the region's technical expert, evaluating training needs of sales representatives and coaching them in technical selling skills.
  • Collaborate with R&D, Learning and Development, Marketing, Veterinary Insights & Medical Affairs, and Sales to achieve organizational priorities.

Requirements

  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM/VMD) degree.
  • 10 years of combined relevant experience, including a minimum of 5 years in clinical companion animal veterinary practice and 5 years in the animal health industry or equivalent leadership/management experience.
  • Ability to translate complex issues into easily comprehensible content for respective audiences.
  • Excellent presentation and facilitation skills.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills with internal customers and hospital decision makers.
  • Experience as a medical consultant in vaccines, parasiticides, and therapeutics.
  • Ability to influence without direct authority and build strong networks internally and with industry partners.
  • Innovative problem-solving skills for internal challenges and customer issues.
  • Competency in MS Office and industry-relevant software (e.g., Salesforce, Veeva, Power BI).
  • Proven ability to work with cross-functional teams and execute core responsibilities independently.
  • Strong understanding of veterinary business processes and ability to discuss using the company's portfolio to improve medical capabilities and profitability.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with companion animal vaccines, parasiticides, and therapeutics.
  • Applicable advanced degrees and research experience.
  • Experience in delivering training or instruction within a structured organization.
  • Leadership and/or management experience.
