About the position

The Senior Accountant role focuses on the preparation of GAAP financial statements and related reporting for multiple partnership entities. This includes supporting full-scope financial statement audits, monthly and quarterly internal financial reporting, and external SEC filings. The position requires resolving a wide range of accounting issues, performing periodic testing of internal controls, and providing support for both internal and external audits.

Responsibilities

• Prepare GAAP financial statements and related reporting for multiple partnership entities.
• Support full scope financial statement audits for those entities.
• Assist in monthly and quarterly internal financial reporting and external SEC filings.
• Resolve a wide range of accounting issues in innovative ways.
• Perform periodic testing of key internal controls and alert management to any deficiencies.
• Support internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and support.
• Conduct special studies and recommend accounting methods or procedures.
• Analyze financial reports and records, making recommendations for accounting and operational improvements.
• Review and verify the accuracy of journal entries and accounting classifications.
• Provide variance analysis to business partners and management, identifying causes and resolutions of variances.
• Provide functional advice or training to less-experienced associates.
• Manage workload effectively by prioritizing responsibilities.
• Review, research, and recommend improvements to analysis, reporting, and systems.
• Respond to financial inquiries from operational management.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance.
• Broad knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and procedures.
• Strong PC literacy skills in a Windows environment with Microsoft Office products (Excel, Access, and Word).
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
• Continuous improvement mindset.
• Ability to resolve routine issues exercising judgment within defined accounting procedures.
• Ability to identify changing requirements and problems regarding management needs.
• Ability to identify substantive issues and research and analyze them thoroughly.
• Ability to convey and consult on moderately complex issues in a clear and organized manner.

Nice-to-haves

• Three (3) or more years of broad accounting experience.
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) licensure.
• Public accounting experience (Big Four a plus).
• Experience working with or within a public company with SEC reporting and SOX control requirements.
