The Sr Accountant, Income Tax plays a crucial role in supporting the income tax processes within Tractor Supply Company's tax department. This position is integral to the preparation and review of income tax returns, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations. The Sr Accountant will assist in the quarterly and annual provision calculations, which are essential for accurate tax reporting and compliance. This role requires a thorough understanding of tax accounting analysis and reporting, as well as the ability to conduct tax research and planning to implement effective tax strategies. In this position, the Sr Accountant will obtain and analyze data necessary for determining Tractor Supply Company's income tax liability. This includes calculating book/tax differences and federal/state differences for return compliance and provision calculations. The role involves assisting with the preparation and filing of the federal income tax return, as well as reviewing and preparing state and local income tax returns. The Sr Accountant will also be responsible for monitoring and processing periodic federal, state, and local tax payments, ensuring that all tax obligations are met in a timely manner. Additionally, the Sr Accountant will assist in the preparation and maintenance of the tax provision and related workpapers on a quarterly basis. This includes determining the annual intercompany administration service charge and intercompany rent allocation, as well as calculating monthly company tax accounting entries. The role requires reviewing system-generated tax depreciation reports to ensure optimal classification of assets for tax purposes and monitoring federal and state tax developments across all states of operation. The Sr Accountant will also assist with IRS and state tax audits, providing necessary documentation and support during the audit process. Other related duties may be assigned as needed, making this a dynamic and engaging position within the tax department.
