About the position

The Senior Accountant in Operational Accounting plays a crucial role in executing and supporting routine accounting and finance close responsibilities within the JIB/AR and E&P teams. This position involves managing various accounting functions such as operated and non-operated JIB accounting, accounts receivable, capital and LOE accruals, and more. The successful candidate will demonstrate initiative, effective communication skills, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively while also contributing to process improvements and training others.

Responsibilities

  • Review and analyze the results of recurring transactions
  • Analyze and evaluate complex, non-routine transactions
  • Ensure timely completion of accounting close responsibilities (i.e. journal entries, account reconciliations, etc.)
  • Prepare meaningful financial information, analysis, and reports
  • Understand risk and maintain adherence to internal control structure
  • Provide training and development within area of responsibility
  • Review the reconciliation and analysis of various accounts
  • Respond to audit requests and coordinate audit activities
  • Lead and/or participate in departmental projects/initiatives
  • Identify, recommend, and assist in the implementation of best practices and improvements to processes within functional area
  • Monitor and analyze process performance metrics and adjust as necessary
  • Perform and coordinate inventory counts and impairment assessments
  • Provide accounts receivable collection support and perform allowance analysis
  • Deliver effective written and verbal communication
  • Other general duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field of study
  • 4+ years of relevant work experience required (8+ years in lieu of education)
  • Strong working knowledge of US GAAP
  • Experience in oil and gas accounting preferred
  • CPA preferred
  • Proficient computer literacy and experienced with MS Office applications, advanced Excel skills a plus
  • Working knowledge of SAP Projects, Assets, JVA, FICO modules is a plus

  • Master's degree in Accounting or related field of study
  • APA, CIA, CFE, CGMA or other relevant professional credentials and certifications
  • Experience with EnergyLink, Crawford Plus Pack, Power BI and Alteryx
