The Senior Accountant, Tax & Compliance will be a key member of the corporate finance team, reporting directly to the Director of Tax & Compliance. This role is crucial as Enterprise continues to grow in size and complexity, necessitating a robust tax and compliance function. The Senior Accountant will be responsible for ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations, preparing and reviewing corporate tax provisions, tax true-ups, and income tax return filings, as well as assisting with business registrations and Form 990s. Additionally, the role involves providing support to the Fund Investment Reporting and Management team regarding tax questions and issues related to over 100 Low Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) partnership tax returns. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of IRS income tax rules and regulations, excellent communication and organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. Responsibilities

  • Assist the Director, Tax and Compliance with the preparation and documentation of all required corporate tax returns including year-end corporate tax provision, filing of Federal and State tax returns, true-up of provision and final tax returns, and preparation of Form 990s.
  • Prepare and update tax process narratives detailing the step-by-step preparation of various tax filings.
  • Assist with process improvements to build a more effective and efficient tax function, including tax planning as needed.
  • Prepare extension calculations and quarterly estimated tax payments.
  • Interact with various government tax authorities to resolve tax and compliance or business license related issues.
  • Provide assistance to the Fund Investment Reporting and Management team for the preparation of over 100 Low Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) tax returns.
  • Research new tax guidance and keep the Director informed about new guidance that may impact Enterprise.
  • Maintain fixed assets for GAAP and Tax purposes in Workday, including reviewing invoices and recording depreciation.
  • Prepare corporate personal property returns.
  • Assist legal with information needed for various state registrations and licenses.
  • Collaborate with team members to recommend improvements to business and communication processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
  • CPA or Enrolled Agent certification, or actively working towards obtaining either preferred.
  • 4-6 years of experience in corporate and partnership tax, with experience in corporate tax and compliance or public accounting.
  • Knowledge of tax and compliance laws for both for-profit and non-profit organizations, including tax issues related to partnerships and corporations.
  • Experience preparing and/or reviewing Form 1120s, 1065s, and/or 990s.
  • Knowledge about multi-company and multi-state income tax calculations and state apportionment rules.
  • Knowledge of FIN48 and ASC740 requirements.
  • Strong financial, analytical, organizational, and quantitative skills.
  • Ability to adapt to adjusted priorities to meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated strong ethics and professionalism in interpersonal relations.
  • Highly motivated, able to work independently, with strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Experience with accounting systems preferred, with Workday experience a plus.
  • Experience with AI tools a plus.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
