About the position

As a Senior Accountant in the Tax department at Americold, you will play a crucial role in supporting the tax return compliance process and ASC 740 reporting, both domestically and internationally. This position is integral to the tax organization of a billion-dollar multinational company, which includes a Real Estate Investment Trust (REIT) and Taxable REIT Subsidiaries. You will assist in coordinating all state and federal tax compliance, ensuring that the company meets its tax obligations efficiently and accurately. Your responsibilities will include the preparation of annual tax return extensions and quarterly federal and state estimated tax payments. You will maintain tax depreciation records and prepare reconciliations between GAAP basis and Tax Basis as needed. Additionally, you will assist in the preparation of quarterly and annual income tax provisions, tax footnote disclosures, and analysis of effective tax rates. You will also be responsible for receiving notices from taxing authorities, reviewing issues, and preparing timely responses. Ensuring that files and documentation are properly recorded for compliance under SOX 404 regulations will also be a key part of your role. This position requires a strong understanding of tax depreciation methods and experience with corporate and partnership tax for federal, state, and local income taxes. Exposure to international tax is a plus, and you will be expected to leverage your technical experience to support the tax department effectively. The role demands excellent communication skills, a self-starter attitude, and strong organizational and analytical skills to navigate the complexities of tax compliance in a dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

  • Support the tax return compliance process and ASC 740 reporting.
  • Assist in the coordination of all state and federal tax compliance.
  • Preparation of annual tax return extensions.

  • Ensure files and documentation are properly recorded for compliance under SOX 404 regulations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance is required; CPA or on track to become CPA.
  • A minimum of 3 or 4 years of progressive tax experience, preferably within a recognized public accounting firm with recent experience with ASC 740 and Uncertain Tax Positions.
  • Strong understanding of tax depreciation methods, including reviewing or maintaining the tax fixed asset register.
  • Technical experience: Corporate / Partnership tax experience for federal, state and local income taxes.
