About The Position
The Senior Accounting Associate plays a crucial role in the financial operations of the Diocese of Austin, specifically focusing on the financial management of multiple parishes. This position is responsible for reviewing the coding of cash receipts and disbursements, as well as preparing comprehensive financial reports that are essential for the effective management of parish finances. Reporting directly to the Director of Parish Business Services, the Senior Accounting Associate operates with a degree of independence, utilizing their judgment and discretion to make informed decisions that align with the mission of the Diocese. In this role, the Senior Accounting Associate is expected to embody the values of the Catholic Church, acting as a witness to Gospel values in both professional and personal conduct. This includes participating in religious ceremonies and training sessions to foster continuous growth in their ministry. The position involves processing and recording all parish receipts, disbursements, and payroll, ensuring accuracy and compliance with established financial practices. The Senior Accounting Associate will prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for the parish and any auxiliary organizations, providing financial analyses to the pastor and Finance Council. They will also be responsible for formulating, maintaining, and executing budgets, as well as providing monthly financial reports to the Finance Council and attending their meetings. Additionally, the role includes preparing bank and general ledger reconciliations, offering administrative support for special financial projects, and maintaining a work schedule that maximizes availability to parishes and diocesan staff.
