About the position

As a GL Accounting Sr. Manager, you will play a pivotal role in managing a large team responsible for overseeing the financial performance of clients. This position is part of the Controlling job function, which entails managing the organization's financial controls and preparing financial reports for both management and shareholders. Your leadership will be crucial in ensuring that the financial operations align with the strategic goals of the organization. In this role, you will provide formal supervision to employees, which includes monitoring their training and development, conducting performance evaluations, and offering coaching. You will also oversee the recruiting and hiring of new employees, ensuring that the team is well-equipped to meet the demands of the job. Coordination and management of the team's daily activities will be essential, as you will establish work schedules, assign tasks, and cross-train staff to enhance their skills and versatility. Setting and tracking deadlines for both staff and the department will be part of your responsibilities, along with mentoring and coaching team members as needed. Creating a positive customer experience is a priority, and you will achieve this by maintaining constructive and reliable lines of communication. You will review the work handled by junior team members and provide guidance to ensure high-quality outputs. Additionally, you will prepare complex financial statements and approve audit and tax preparation documents, acting as the point of contact for the implementation and maintenance of accounting and reporting systems. Your role will also involve assisting executive management with the implementation of strategic initiatives, reviewing and verifying financial information, and troubleshooting complex issues to ensure timely and accurate responses to internal and external customer requests. You will monitor financial performance and provide strategic advice to the executive management team, applying your broad knowledge of the business and how your discipline integrates with others to achieve departmental objectives. Leading by example, you will model behaviors consistent with CBRE's RISE values and influence others to adopt new perspectives while adhering to policies and departmental plans. Identifying and solving technical and operational problems will be a key aspect of your role, as will improving existing methods, processes, and standards within your discipline.

Responsibilities

  • Provide formal supervision to employees and monitor their training and development.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and coaching for team members.
  • Oversee the recruiting and hiring of new employees.
  • Coordinate and manage the team's daily activities, establishing work schedules and assigning tasks.
  • Cross-train staff and set and track staff and department deadlines.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred with 5 - 8 years of relevant experience, or a combination of experience and education.
  • Experience in staffing, selection, training, development, coaching, mentoring, and performance management is preferred.
  • Ability to lead the exchange of sensitive and complicated information and handle problems effectively.
  • Leadership skills to motivate the team to achieve operational targets across multiple disciplines.
  • In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Extensive organizational skills and an advanced inquisitive mindset.
  • Intermediate math skills, including the ability to calculate complicated figures.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in financial reporting and compliance is a plus.
  • Familiarity with accounting software and reporting systems is advantageous.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail are preferred.
