The Senior Accounting Manager will oversee a range of accounting activities to ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), corporate policies, and external audits. This role involves managing the Fixed Asset team, the Inventory team, the monthly closing of accounts, and the preparation of reports that support the financial statements. The successful candidate will set high performance standards for themselves and their team, demonstrating professionalism and leadership capabilities. They will possess a solid operational and technical accounting background and work proactively to drive results in a fast-paced, team-oriented, and collaborative environment. In this position, the Senior Accounting Manager will manage the monthly financial close process, ensuring that all costs incurred are accurately recorded. This includes reviewing journal entries, reconciling account balances, and preparing reports. The manager will participate in the ongoing development and establishment of accounting policies and procedures, as well as operational strategies, which may involve reviewing and implementing process and system changes. A continued focus on improving system efficiencies and business practices is essential. The role also includes participation in strategic financial projects, such as upgrades and implementation of ERP software, and ensuring compliance with internal control policies in a Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) environment. The Senior Accounting Manager will collaborate with external auditors to ensure successful audit results and compliance, interacting with budget owners and stakeholders to produce timely and accurate month-end close reports and internal management and financial reporting. Additionally, the manager will be responsible for the hierarchy and scalability in the chart of accounts, ensuring accuracy in the general ledger and financial statements, and will have ultimate authority over the classification and booking of all transactions. They will analyze the effects of statutory accounting practices and study regulations to ensure the correct application of GAAP, making recommendations for changes as needed. The role requires reviewing and posting detailed journal entries, assisting with tax return preparation, and coordinating financial accounting activities with the Audit, Tax, and Treasury Manager. The Senior Accounting Manager will also prepare summary feedback on financial statement variances to budget and develop cash flow projections while supervising a team of Managers and Senior Accountants.
