As a Senior Actuarial Analyst in the Actuarial department, you will play a crucial role in shaping the future of health care by addressing complex challenges and contributing to the development of innovative solutions. This position allows for remote work flexibility, enabling you to work from anywhere within the lower 48 U.S. states while making a significant impact on the lives of millions of people. In this role, you will be responsible for a variety of key tasks that are essential to the success of our health plans. You will prepare regulatory filings for both small and large group rate filings, including Mental Health Parity filings, and secure necessary approvals. Your analytical skills will be put to the test as you perform periodic pricing analysis of projected experiences by line of business, suggesting appropriate pricing strategies to the Health Plan. Additionally, you will update and maintain the rating systems for both small and large groups, ensuring accuracy and compliance. You will also engage in product pricing, utilizing the company's proprietary medical and pharmacy benefit pricing tools to price new products and plan designs. Competitive analysis will be a significant part of your responsibilities, as you gather and analyze rate and plan information from primary competitors to inform our strategies. Supporting the growth of large groups will require you to provide timely financial outlooks, and effective communication will be key as you interact with state regulators and matrix partners, representing the actuarial team effectively. Responsibilities

  • Prepare small and large group rate filings, including Mental Health Parity filings, and secure approvals.
  • Perform periodic analysis of projected experience by line of business and suggest appropriate pricing strategies to the Health Plan.
  • Update and maintain the rating systems for both small group and large group.
  • Perform pricing of new products and/or plan designs using the company's proprietary medical and pharmacy benefit pricing tools.
  • Gather and analyze rate and plan information for primary competitors.
  • Support the growth of large group by providing timely financial outlook.
  • Interact with state's regulators and matrix partners, representing actuarial effectively.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree
  • 2 or more actuarial exams passed
  • 2+ years of actuarial experience
  • Experience communicating technical information to matrix partners (Finance, Business)
  • Intermediate or higher level of proficiency in MS Excel

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with ACA pricing and rate filling
  • Experience in engaging with external clients (DOI)
  • Intermediate or higher level of proficiency with SQL or similar programming language
  • Proven good communication/presentation skills
  • Proven excellent project management and prioritization skills
