About the position

The Sr Actuarial Analyst position at Optum involves analyzing healthcare data to support business decisions and improve health outcomes. The role requires expertise in compiling medical expense data, performing variance analysis, and projecting costs. Responsibilities

• Compile medical expense and statistical data for various projects, including monthly variance analysis reports and revenue forecasting.
• Perform expense cost projections and unpaid claim reserve cost estimates.
• Compile and maintain various financial reports.
• Review data for reasonableness, consistency, and completeness, identifying or resolving questionable values.
• Analyze and interpret key drivers of healthcare trends to assist leaders in making business decisions.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
• 2+ years of experience in a corporate environment, including experience in collecting, analyzing, and summarizing qualitative/quantitative data.
• Completion of 2+ Actuarial exams.
• Expertise in MS Excel, including working with formulas, calculations, charts, and graphs.
• Ability to quickly learn and effectively use computer software tools.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in finance or the healthcare industry.
• Proficient in coding (SQL, SAS, and/or VBA).
• Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbal.
