About the position

In this role, you will be part of the AWS Utility Computing (UC) team, which is dedicated to providing innovative cloud computing solutions and addressing complex technical challenges. Your primary focus will be on the development and management of various services within AWS, including Compute, Database, Storage, Internet of Things (IoT), Platform, and Productivity Apps. You will also support customers who require specialized security solutions for their cloud services. As a member of this team, you will have the opportunity to work with foundational services such as Amazon's Simple Storage Service (S3) and Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2), while also contributing to the continuous release of new product innovations that distinguish AWS in the industry. The position requires a deep understanding of integration, Agile methodologies, and DevOps philosophies. You will be expected to challenge conventional approaches and be willing to decompose and reinvent systems, processes, and tools. This is a unique opportunity to work on one of the largest compute services globally, where your expertise in Operations, Networking, and Systems Engineering will be highly valued. Responsibilities

  • Support the development and management of AWS services including Compute, Database, Storage, IoT, Platform, and Productivity Apps.
  • Engage in deep troubleshooting to root cause customer issues and investigate metric trends.
  • Collaborate with top engineers to discuss and implement innovative automation solutions.
  • Design and build operational scalability to sustain platform growth.
  • Utilize strong debugging and systems analysis skills to resolve issues quickly.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of Linux experience
  • 10+ years of systems engineering experience
  • 10+ years of systems management/administration automation experience
  • 5+ years of experience with Agile methods and processes
  • Strong debugging and systems analysis skills
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills across application, network, and host levels
  • Current, active US Government Security Clearance of TS/SCI with Polygraph
