About the position

Join Honeywell, a global leader in technology and innovation, as a Sr. Advanced Hardware Engineer in our Building Automation division. In this pivotal role, you will be at the forefront of designing the next generation of fire protection edge devices. You will leverage your technical skills to design and develop both wired and wireless sensors and devices that are integral to fire systems, focusing on low power consumption and regulatory standards such as UL, CE, and FCC. As a key member of our engineering team, you will perform engineering qualification analysis for pre-compliance, write detailed technical documents including engineering specifications, and manage component obsolescence. Your responsibilities will also include maintaining the ECAD database and ensuring that all design documents are current. You will play a crucial role in the quality assurance process, troubleshooting any issues that arise in the factory or field, thereby ensuring that our products not only meet but exceed customer expectations. Responsibilities

  • Design and develop wired and wireless sensors and devices for fire systems
  • Design and develop products that are optimized for low power consumption
  • Design products that can meet regulatory compliance such as UL, CE, and FCC
  • Perform Engineering qualification analysis for pre-compliance
  • Write technical documents such as engineering specifications
  • Manage component obsolescence
  • Manage ECAD database and keep design documents up to date
  • Assist in QA process and troubleshoot factory/field issues

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
  • 8+ years of experience in hardware design and development
  • Strong knowledge of hardware design principles and methodologies
  • Experience with hardware testing and validation
  • Experience working in multidisciplinary teams
  • Proficiency in developing schematics and support layouts

Nice-to-haves

  • Strong sense of ownership and drive; self-motivated and able to work with little supervision
  • A strong Design for Quality and Design for Manufacturing mentality
  • Experience in analog circuit design
  • Experience with DC-to-DC converters, sensors, and battery powered designs
  • Experience with regulatory agencies
  • Experience with Siemens EDA (Mentor Graphics)
  • Domain knowledge of Building Management Systems, Fire Systems, and/or HVAC systems
  • Understanding of firmware design principles
  • Agile, Scaled Agile, or Scrum experience
