The Sr. Advanced Manufacturing Engineer plays a crucial role in the new product assembly launch at Challenge, a leading tier 1 supplier of complex metal assemblies for the global automotive industry. This position is responsible for developing and implementing optimal, cost-effective manufacturing processes or methods that align with product specifications and quality standards. The engineer will work as part of a launch team, overseeing the automated assembly equipment from the quoting phase through to production, ensuring that all internal and external customer requirements are met. This role emphasizes the importance of operational excellence and teamwork, reflecting Challenge's core values of safety, ownership, and collaboration. In this position, the engineer will manage suppliers and integrators to ensure that projects are completed on time and that the automated equipment is manufactured according to Challenge's stringent manufacturing standards. The role involves designing and developing manufacturing processes, including production flow, assembly methods, and production equipment. Weekly schedules with suppliers and integrators will be maintained, and the engineer will manage an open-issue matrix while reviewing and managing progress against project timelines. Additionally, the Sr. Advanced Manufacturing Engineer will review and approve tooling designs, system layouts, control designs, and weld documentation. Providing project leadership is essential, as the engineer will drive all aspects of project launch from quoting to sourcing to production. Collaboration with the program team is necessary to provide weekly progress updates, and the engineer will work closely with production plants to ensure that all system processes adhere to plant requirements, resolving open issues and presenting system timelines for plant readiness and acceptance.
