About the position

The Sr Advanced Software Engineer at Honeywell plays a pivotal role in leading the development, documentation, and maintenance of software architectures, requirements, algorithms, interfaces, and designs specifically for software test systems. This position is crucial for ensuring that the software systems meet the required specifications and performance standards. The engineer will be responsible for leading the development of code and the integration of software components and test equipment into a fully functional test stand system, utilizing NI LabVIEW on NI PXI and cRIO platforms. This role also involves the creation of integrated test solutions that encompass industrial facility controls and data acquisition systems. In this position, the engineer will develop software verification plans, test procedures, and test environments, executing these procedures and documenting the results to ensure compliance with software system requirements. The role requires coordination of software supplier management activities and leading test software development projects. Additionally, the engineer will be responsible for the selection, tailoring, and deployment of processes, tools, and metrics that enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of software testing. Providing technical guidance in test software domains, addressing system-specific issues, and adhering to relevant processes and regulations are also key responsibilities of this role. Responsibilities

  • Develops software verification plans, test procedures and test environments, executing the test procedures and documenting test results to ensure software system requirements are met.
  • Lead Test software development projects and co-ordinate software supplier management activities.
  • Leads development, selection, tailoring and deployment of processes, tools and metrics.
  • Provide technical guidance of Test software domains, system-specific issues, processes and regulations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics or other technical degree.
  • Experience in leading technical design and architecture for product development. Lead & drive technical proposals, creating technical documents and developing software requirements. 3+ years of experience designing and developing software with NI platforms and tools.
  • 2+ years' experience developing closed loop control systems.
  • 4+ years' experience with programming languages such as NI LabVIEW, Simulink, Matlab, C, C++.
  • U.S. Citizenship required due to contractual requirements.

Nice-to-haves

  • Two or more years of experience in handling product development, software design, architectural elements.
  • Demonstrated experience in progressively challenging and responsible roles.
  • Experience in certification requirements and software versioning control is desired. Experience with hardware/software integration.
  • Experience with the full software development lifecycle, Software testing life cycle (SDLC, STLC) including software for integrated test systems.
  • Experience automating software builds, unit tests, integration tests, deployment, and installations.
