About the position

As a Senior Advanced Systems Engineer for the SDA GMI program at General Dynamics Mission Systems, you will play a pivotal role in a cross-functional team dedicated to developing and deploying cutting-edge ground operational systems. This position requires a strong background in systems engineering, with a focus on satellite communications and ground operations. You will be responsible for leading the systems development life cycle, ensuring that all technical requirements are met while fostering a collaborative environment that encourages innovation and technical leadership. Your role will involve performing comprehensive requirements analysis, functional analysis, and system design, as well as managing the integration and testing of system elements. You will also be tasked with developing system security documentation and ensuring compliance with governmental security specifications. In addition to technical responsibilities, you will be expected to demonstrate strong communication and negotiation skills, working closely with senior levels of internal working groups and external partners. Responsibilities

  • Perform requirements analysis, requirements definition, and requirements management.
  • Conduct functional analysis, performance analysis, and system design.
  • Execute detail trade studies, systems integration, and test (verification) processes.
  • Develop and evaluate systems, networks, and information systems to ensure compliance with governmental security specifications.
  • Provide system accreditation/certification evaluation and test support.
  • Participate in Modeling and Simulation activities.
  • Research and analyze data to determine feasibility of design or application.
  • Support the generation of technical engineering products using appropriate standards and processes.
  • Provide leadership and/or direction to lower-level employees as needed.
  • Plan and execute project tasks for various engineering activities.
  • Define processes for technical platforms, system specifications, and compatibility requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, or a related Science, Engineering, or Mathematics field.
  • 8+ years of job-related experience, or a Master's degree plus 6 years of job-related experience.
  • Preferred experience in Agile methodologies.
  • Ability to obtain a Department of Defense Secret security clearance.
  • Strong presentation and communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of satellite communications and ground operations.
  • Experience with cross-domain security and multi-level security domains.
  • Familiarity with agile program management.
