About the position

The Senior Analyst in Commodity Operations is responsible for managing the procurement and scheduling of gas and electricity for Con Edison customers. This role involves optimizing supply contracts, analyzing market data, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements while supporting the company's mission of operational excellence and customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities

• Perform various functions related to gas and electricity supply.
• Conduct Gas Supply functions including purchasing natural gas and scheduling pipeline capacity/storage.
• Optimize supply contracts, pipeline, and storage assets.
• Develop seasonal, monthly, and daily strategies for electricity and natural gas.
• Purchase and schedule physical electricity supply in the NYISO Markets.
• Manage generation bidding into the NYISO market and Energy Storage Resources.
• Forecast Steam Operations natural gas requirements.
• Analyze market data and improve work processes through worksheet applications.
• Monitor Wholesale Electricity and Natural Gas Markets for changes affecting the department.
• Respond to miscellaneous ad-hoc data requests and perform related tasks as required.
• Ensure compliance with PSC, NYISO, NYSRC, NERC, and SOX requirements.
• Adhere to Company safety, health, and environmental programs.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree and three (3) years of full-time related work experience or a High School Diploma/GED and five (5) years of full-time related work experience.
• At least one (1) year of utility experience or related energy industry experience.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.

Nice-to-haves

• Broad-based knowledge in Power Generation Scheduling, Gas Control, or ISO-administered energy markets.
• Experience in physical and/or financial commodities trading.
• Knowledge of energy policy and regulatory matters.
• Experience in contract administration (ISDA, EEI, NAESB).
