About the position

The Data Engineering team at Cardinal Health plays a crucial role in ensuring that raw data is transformed into usable and accessible formats for the organization. This function is part of the broader Data & Analytics Function, which oversees the entire analytics life-cycle to identify, analyze, and present insights that drive business decisions and create competitive advantages. Data Engineering encompasses various specialties, including data acquisition, integration, and provisioning, which are essential for effective data management and utilization. In this role, Data Engineers collaborate closely with business stakeholders to address complex problems through data analytics. They apply a structured BI&A development methodology that includes defining, developing, validating, and implementing solutions tailored to business needs. This involves asking probing questions to translate those needs into effective reporting solutions, such as metric management, dashboards, and enterprise performance management systems. Data Engineers leverage their advanced knowledge of data analytics concepts and technical capabilities to manage a diverse range of projects, ensuring that the data infrastructure supports the organization's analytical goals. The position requires familiarity with various tools, including Alteryx, Tableau, Google Cloud Platform (GCP), and Python, to facilitate data processing and visualization. Data Engineers are expected to apply their working knowledge of data concepts and principles to perform tasks of moderate scope and complexity, identifying potential solutions to technical challenges and taking appropriate actions to resolve them. They work under general guidance, with their work being reviewed for sound reasoning and accuracy, particularly on new projects.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to solve complex problems through data analytics.
  • Apply BI&A development methodology to problem solving (Define, Develop, Validate, and Implement).
  • Ask probing questions to translate business needs to build and design reporting solutions (metric management, dashboards, enterprise performance management).
  • Apply advanced knowledge and understanding of data analytics concepts, principles, and technical capabilities to manage a wide variety of projects.

Requirements

  • 2-4 years of experience in data engineering or related field, preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field, or equivalent work experience, preferred.
