About the position

As a Data Engineer at Nationwide, you will play a crucial role in acquiring, curating, and publishing data for analytical and operational uses. This position is part of the PCD Agreement team supporting the Commercial Lines Pricing application (Arcade). You will work in a hybrid environment, collaborating with various technologies to ensure data is ready for use by business users, data scientists, and technology teams. Your contributions will help drive business results through innovative data solutions.

Responsibilities

• Provides technical consultation on data product projects by analyzing end to end data product requirements and existing business processes.
• Translates business data stories into a technical story breakdown structure and work estimate.
• Applies secure software and systems engineering practices throughout the delivery lifecycle.
• Develops and maintains scalable data pipelines for both streaming and batch requirements.
• Assists in building out new API integrations to support increasing data volume and complexity.
• Practices code management and integration with engineering Git principles.

Requirements

• Undergraduate studies in computer science, management information systems, business, statistics, math, or a related field.
• 1-3 years of relevant experience with data quality rules and data management practices.
• Experience with query languages, statistical software, and data wrangling tools.
• Knowledge of modern programming and scripting languages such as SQL, R, Python, Spark, UNIX Shell scripting, Perl, or Ruby.

Nice-to-haves

• Graduate studies in business, statistics, math, computer science, or a related field.
• Experience analyzing trends and patterns in structured and unstructured data.
