About the position

The Sr. Analyst, Data Governance & Data Quality at Crocs Inc. is a pivotal role that focuses on enhancing the quality and resiliency of the data environment by partnering with business stakeholders. This individual will be responsible for understanding the pain points of various departments, ideating solutions, and delivering results that save time and improve data quality. A passion for data is essential, as the role involves educating others within the organization about data governance and best practices. The ideal candidate will possess an inquisitive mindset, relentlessly seeking ways to solve problems through collaboration and execution of key deliverables. The mission of the Data Governance team is to make data easy to use and understand, while also adapting to the growth of the business in a complex data ecosystem. This includes improving data quality, fostering a data culture that values data as an asset, and driving the adoption of best practices to ensure compliance with data governance standards. In this role, the analyst will engage in data domain mapping, collaborating with data owners and stewards to identify critical data. They will help establish a community of data stewards, providing advisory support to ensure compliance with governance standards. Participation in the implementation and management of data governance tools is also a key responsibility. The analyst will work to establish trust with stakeholders globally, facilitating the adoption of data governance best practices across the organization. They will curate data definitions, policies, and key performance indicators, driving collaborative efforts between business and IT areas to understand differences across disparate data silos. Additionally, the analyst will support the transition of new business units into the governance structure, ensuring alignment with overall strategy and business needs. Developing training materials, standard operating procedures, and reusable templates will be essential to scale data governance across the enterprise, taking into account various user personas and workflows. The role requires collaboration with stakeholders to ensure that governance deliverables align with their efforts, maintaining consistency at a global scale.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with business stakeholders to understand their pain points and deliver solutions that improve data quality and save time.
  • Map data domains, subdomains, and attributes through collaboration with data owners and stewards.
  • Establish a data steward community and build strong relationships to provide advisory support for compliance with data governance standards.
  • Participate in the implementation and management of data governance tools and content.
  • Establish trust with stakeholders globally to facilitate the adoption of data governance best practices.
  • Act as a subject matter expert (SME) for data governance, providing best practices to business and technical data stewards.
  • Curate data definitions, policies, key performance indicators, and related metadata.
  • Drive collaborative efforts between business, functional, and IT areas to understand differences across data silos.
  • Support the transition of new business units into the governance structure to ensure alignment with strategy and business needs.
  • Develop best practices guidance for data governance and provide advisory support to global stakeholders.
  • Create training materials, SOPs, and templates to scale data governance across the enterprise.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure governance deliverables are produced in tandem with their efforts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Management, Business Management, Communications, or equivalent experience.
  • 5 years of professional experience in data governance, master data management, business analysis, information technology, data quality, data profiling, and metadata management.
  • 4 years of experience in Data Governance and data management and analysis.
  • 1 year of regulatory experience (GDPR, CCPA, CPRA, SOX, PCI, GLBA) is preferred.
  • Hands-on experience with data management governance tools such as Collibra, Informatica, Alation, and Ataccama (4 years).
  • Experience in mapping data domains, subdomains, and attributes (4 years).
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities in a matrixed environment (2 years).
  • 3 years of experience in process mapping and reengineering.
  • 1 year of experience managing complex data-related projects and programs.
  • 3 years of experience prioritizing deliverables in a fast-paced environment with conflicting priorities.
  • Proven ability to engage effectively with leaders (3 years).
  • Experience with reporting and data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau, Looker, etc.).
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in large data sets.
  • Ability to stay informed of emerging trends in data governance and management.
  • Strong communication and facilitation skills, both written and verbal.

Nice-to-haves

  • Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP) or similar certifications.
  • Experience with relational database systems and proficiency with SQL.
  • Experience with agile methodology and associated planning tools such as Jira and Confluence.
