About the position

Catalent Maryland, a Gene Therapy facility located in Baltimore, MD, is seeking a Senior Financial Analyst to join our team. This role is pivotal in analyzing past financial performance to predict future outcomes and advising the company on its financial strategy. The Senior Financial Analyst will work closely with Senior Finance Leadership and Catalent's Corporate Finance Leadership, including Controllers and the Chief Accounting Office. This position offers a unique opportunity to transition from Public Accounting to Industry, providing a dynamic and challenging environment with ample opportunities for learning and making a positive impact on the organization. In this full-time on-site role, the Senior Financial Analyst will be responsible for cost management, direction, and analytical support for assigned areas within the manufacturing plant. Key responsibilities include establishing and reviewing cost accounting activities, ensuring accurate cost allocation and reporting, and participating in monthly accounting close processes related to Cost of Goods. The analyst will monitor and analyze cost variances, identifying areas for cost reduction and process improvement, and will partner with operations teams to provide comprehensive financial support, including monthly performance reports and financial analysis. The role also involves completing the month-end close process, including journal entries, expense analysis, and the development of cost of sales. The Senior Financial Analyst will review, analyze, and evaluate financial data for accuracy and consistency, preparing meaningful reports for leadership decision-making. Collaboration with the operations team to identify cost risks and implement improvement strategies is essential, as is providing support to the finance team and assisting in driving process improvements. Additionally, the analyst will support internal and external audit requests and documentation, participate in special projects, and conduct ad-hoc research and data analysis as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Provide cost management, direction, and analytical support for assigned areas in the manufacturing plant.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
  • Minimum 3 years professional related experience required.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel (Pivots, XLOOKUP, VLOOKUP, SUMIFs, other functions).
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles including balance sheet and GL required.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Quality interpersonal skills necessary to communicate with all levels of management.
  • Self-motivated and a self-starter continuously looking for process improvements.
