About the position

PayPal is seeking a FP&A Senior Financial Analyst to join the Consumer Product OpEx team. This role is pivotal in providing strategic and operational finance support to effectively manage the team's finances. The successful candidate will engage in various financial activities including budgeting, forecasting, month-end close processes, variance analysis, and reporting related to operating expenses, capital expenditures, and headcount management. The analyst will also oversee the day-to-day financial processes and guide the business through various finance-related tasks, ensuring that financial decisions are sound and aligned with the company's strategic priorities. In this position, you will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, providing business insights and recommendations that drive financial performance. Your responsibilities will include working with business units and budget owners to build business cases, managing the spending of new projects and initiatives, and processing cost center creation and changes. You will lead month-end close activities, ensuring that accruals and cross-charge journal entries are booked accurately and on time. Additionally, you will monitor expense and headcount plans against actuals, providing analysis and recommendations to business partners and the finance team. The role requires a strong understanding of corporate policies and GAAP regulations, as well as the ability to develop a comprehensive understanding of the business's strategic priorities and resource needs. You will be expected to collaborate with various stakeholders to enhance financial planning and budgeting processes, ensuring that the team adheres to strict financial guidelines while achieving its operational goals.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the business and finance team for forecasting and month-end close activities including accrual journal entries and reporting.
  • Assist in monthly reporting, variance analysis (Actual Vs. Forecast Vs. Budget), and ad-hoc deep dive analysis related to expenses, Capex, and headcount.
  • Collaborate with business, budget owners, and financial analysts to build business cases and manage spending for new projects/initiatives.
  • Process cost center creation and changes, and manage the movement of cost center hierarchies.
  • Lead month-end close and reporting activities, ensuring timely and accurate booking of accruals and cross-charge journal entries.
  • Monitor expense and headcount plans against actuals, providing analysis and recommendations for business partners and the finance team.
  • Build reports and assist with monthly actuals-to-forecast variance analysis.
  • Ensure strict adherence to corporate policies and GAAP regulations.
  • Develop an understanding of business strategic priorities and collaborate to improve financial planning and budgeting.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in FP&A.
  • Detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy in work output.
  • Strong analytical and data processing skills with a methodological understanding.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Process-focused with the ability to identify and execute process improvements.
  • Experience with budget and reporting applications including BPC, BW, and SAP.
