About the position

As a Senior Analyst in Fuel Operations at American Airlines, you will play a crucial role in minimizing the costs associated with fueling operations while ensuring the integrity, safety, and flexibility necessary to meet operational requirements. Reporting directly to the Manager of Fuel Operations, you will be part of a dedicated team within the Fuel & Energy Management group. This position offers a unique opportunity to leverage your communication, project management, and analytical skills to tackle challenges and contribute to the overall efficiency of the airline's operations. In this role, you will monitor daily departure delays caused by fueling and assist the Manager in determining the root causes of these delays, particularly at hub locations. You will be responsible for negotiating contracts and managing relationships with into-plane fueling service vendors, ensuring that all contracts are effectively managed and that the fueling service contract database is up to date. Additionally, you will manage and develop the budget for all fuel service fees, investigating and explaining any variances from the planned budget. Collaboration with Accounting and Fuel Analysts will be essential to validate invoices and ensure proper authorization for consortium and into-plane contracts. Your responsibilities will also include managing inter-company issues, billing, and cost allocations to ensure that the best interests of the company are achieved. You will contribute cross-functionally to support corporate and group objectives, making this a dynamic and impactful position within the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor daily departure delays caused by fueling and assist in determining root causes of fueling delays, especially at hub locations.
  • Negotiate contracts and manage relationships with into-plane fueling service vendors.
  • Manage the fueling service contract database to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Develop and manage the budget for all fuel service fees, investigating variances versus plan.
  • Collaborate with Accounting and Fuel Analysts to validate invoices and ensure proper authorization for contracts.
  • Manage inter-company issues, billing, and cost allocations to protect the company's interests.
  • Contribute cross-functionally to support corporate and group objectives.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree in Business, Finance, Engineering, Operations, Procurement, Logistics, or Accounting.
  • Proven project management skills involving multiple departments and/or companies.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively to senior management and other departments.
  • Strong analytical thinking skills and commitment to quality in work.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Proficient in Power BI and Tableau.

Nice-to-haves

  • Prior Tech Ops, Finance, Operations, and/or Procurement experience.
  • Previous energy management experience.
  • Experience with RFP development, contract negotiations, and business case development.
  • Familiarity with the budget process.
