About the position

CGI is seeking a Senior Android Developer to join our team in either Pittsburgh, PA or Dallas, TX. This role is pivotal as the candidate will act as a technical expert on a large-scale mobile development project that involves both on-shore and off-shore developers. The Mobile Developer will collaborate closely with Product Owners, Subject Matter Experts, and Technical Managers to build native applications that meet the needs of our clients. The primary responsibility of this position is to ensure that the development team is creating functional, scalable, and maintainable code while adhering to existing customer patterns. In this role, you will lead the development and enhancement of features for mobile applications, ensuring that the software design patterns such as MVP (Model-View-Presenter) and MVVM (Model-View-View-Model) are strictly followed. You will be responsible for creating and reviewing technical designs, developing source code using Java and Kotlin, and utilizing software development IDEs like Android Studio and Eclipse. Code quality is paramount, and you will review peer code and respond to comments to maintain high standards of consistency and unit test coverage. As a Senior Android Developer, you will participate in Agile ceremonies, execute Spike stories to research new features, and highlight any impediments or risks that may affect software delivery. You will also conduct training sessions for junior developers and help product owners create a roadmap for future enhancements. Your expertise in mobile application code development will be crucial in integrating applications with centralized authentication systems and ensuring compliance with HIPAA and other guidelines. This position requires a hands-on approach to problem-solving and delivering high-quality software on time.

Responsibilities

• Serve as Senior Android Developer to lead, develop and enhance features for mobile apps.
• Create and review technical designs for real world entities/ relationships/ scenarios and translate them into corresponding objects in mobile software.
• Develop source code for mobile apps using languages like Java & Kotlin.
• Effectively use software development IDEs like Android Studio, Eclipse and XCode.
• Review code from peers and respond to any code review comments to ensure code quality, consistency, and within unit test coverage.
• Ensure that software design patterns like MVP (Model-View-Presenter), MVVM (Model-View-View-Model) are strictly followed.
• Effectively use version control systems like GIT to keep the software source code clean and always secured.
• Participate and contribute to all Agile ceremonies like daily Scrum, Backlog refinement, Sprint planning, Retrospectives, Release planning etc.
• Execute Spike stories to research, investigate and estimate time and resource requirements for new features/enhancements with Product Owners.
• Highlight any impediments, dependencies and any potential risks affecting delivery of software features.
• Conduct trainings and guide junior developers and new members.
• Understand the requirements, current state architecture of the enterprise and help product owners creating roadmap for the future enhancements.
• Develop mobile application code in coordination with other team members.
• Integrate the mobile applications with the centralized authentication application.
• Knowledge on biometric authentication and device capabilities like Camera, Phone state, Location, Notifications, Permissions management etc.
• Create Software Architecture Document, High Level and Low-Level Design document, Nonfunctional requirements for the project.
• Work in an Agile environment and adapt to the changing needs and requirements of the business.
• Always be ready to be hands-on to develop or fix issues to deliver on time and with highest quality.
• Work closely with BA/QA team members to create test plans, and ensure that the issues are properly identified, fixed and tested.
• Groom the team and develop the application with customer centric ideas and innovation as the core of every activity help the team attain a benchmark within the organization for others to follow and achieve.
• Ensure that the app code always stays compliant to HIPPA, HIG, Internal architecture, Naming Conventions and Accessibility guidelines.

Requirements

• 6+ years of experience with mobile development.
• 5+ years of experience in Android development.
• 4+ years of experience in Rest APIs and API Authentication.
• Good experience working with design patterns like MVVM.
• Experience working with tools like Android Studio, Gradle, Git, Postman, Firebase and Google services.
• Working experience in Industry Standard protocols related API Security including OAuth is a must.
• Strong design and programming skills using layouts & Jetpack Compose.
• Strong background working with Android tech-stack including libraries like Retrofit, GSON, RxJava, Kotlin coroutines etc.
• Knowledge on databases, rules, and CRUD operations.
• Strong agile/scrum experience.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills within distributed project teams.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
