About the position

The Sr. Application Calibration Engineer at Bosch is responsible for processing vehicle crash data, running simulations, and modifying airbag algorithms to comply with NHTSA mandates and customer specifications. This role involves collaboration with vehicle manufacturers for optimal ECU installation and serves as a technical liaison for airbag systems, ensuring effective communication and problem resolution with customers.

Responsibilities

  • Process vehicle crash data and run simulations.
  • Modify airbag algorithms and calibrations to meet NHTSA mandates and customer requirements.
  • Discuss results with customers and address concerns to secure customer sign off.
  • Perform vehicle integration by determining optimal installation locations for the ECU and sensors.
  • Act as a technical customer window for airbag peripheral and inertial sensor architecture and design.
  • Study and apply algorithms to classify vehicle occupants and maximize protection during accidents.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or related field.
  • 5 years of experience as an Application Engineer or in a related role involving Design, Implementation, and Validation.
  • Experience in developing deterministic and physics-based real-time algorithms using a model-based approach (Simulink).
  • Experience executing Model in Loop simulations to assess algorithm performance.
  • Experience with Hardware in Loop testing to confirm overall system performance.
  • Knowledge of embedded system runtime constraints and optimization techniques.
  • Experience with accelerometer-based modal hammer testing and frequency response analysis of mechanical systems.
