About the position

The Sr. Application Database Engineer at Chickasaw Nation Industries is a pivotal role responsible for the technical maintenance, support, and configuration of both on-premises Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) packages and cloud-based Software as a Service (SaaS) systems for the Office of Federal Emergency Management Services (OFEMS) and the Logistics and Transportation Management Branch (LTMB). This position requires a highly competent individual who can quickly learn new systems while providing support for established systems. The engineer will also coordinate with the FDA systems group for server upgrades, production version deployments, server log reviews, and technical assistance during the annual Authority to Operate (ATO) process. In this role, the engineer will work independently on various technical activities while also supporting team members. They will provide advanced technical support and troubleshooting for systems within the branch portfolio, monitor system logs to identify potential issues, and direct a small cross-functional project team. The engineer is expected to maintain a neat and orderly work area to ensure safety and will report any unsafe conditions to the appropriate supervisor. Additionally, they will be responsible for planning daily activities in accordance with company policies and maximizing personal output. Continuous self-development through available training is also emphasized. The position requires a commitment to compliance with all applicable rules and regulations, fostering an environment where violations can be reported without fear. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in technical work environments, with a focus on database management and application development, and will be expected to integrate core competencies into their daily functions, including integrity, quality of work, and effective communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for all technical aspects in the maintenance, support, and configuration of on-premises COTS packages and cloud-based SaaS systems.
  • Coordinate with the FDA systems group for server upgrades and production version deployment upgrades.
  • Provide advanced technical support and troubleshooting for systems within the branch portfolio.
  • Monitor system logs to identify potential issues.
  • Direct a small cross-functional project team.
  • Plan daily activities within the guidelines of company policy and supervisor's instruction to maximize personal output.
  • Maintain a neat and orderly work area to ensure safety and report any unsafe conditions.
  • Aide in self-development by being available and receptive to all training provided by the company.

Requirements

  • Ten (10+) years using SQL for DML and DDL operations.
  • Five (5+) years using Microsoft SQL Server.
  • Five (5+) years in supporting server maintenance and production deployment activities.
  • Four (4+) years in supporting specific COTS/SaaS applications (e.g., Accruent EMS, Poppulo FWI, Tango Agilquest, or Pitney-Bowes SendSuite Live / SendPro 360).
  • Four (4+) years writing and supporting technical requests such as RFC, VDD, and TSD.
  • Eight (8+) years as an application developer.
  • Two (2+) years as a Power BI developer.
  • Two (2+) years as a Project Manager or Team Leader.
  • Must be able to obtain a Public Trust Clearance.

Nice-to-haves

  • Cloud Computing certification (e.g., AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud).
  • Database certification (e.g., SQL Server, Postgres, Oracle).
  • Microsoft Windows certification (e.g., Microsoft Certified Professional).
  • Experience with AWS SaaS systems.
  • Experience with Pitney-Bowes Mail Meters and peripherals installation, troubleshooting, and support.
  • Prefer FDA experience working with ODT.
  • Prefer systems experience with Crestron XiO Cloud, Actionfigure or CityMotion/Transitscreen, Poly Lens, Assetcloud, and Four Winds Interactive.
