About the position

The Senior Application Developer at Lincoln Financial Group is responsible for providing subject matter expertise and direction on complex application development projects. This role involves developing innovative business solutions, modifying existing applications, and providing post-production support while adhering to the system development life cycle process. The developer will work remotely and collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure effective application design and implementation.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain knowledge on current and emerging developments/trends for assigned areas of responsibility and collaborate with senior management.
  • Direct and enhance organizational initiatives by supporting change management and departmental initiatives.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance quality across the team and business unit.
  • Mentor and provide direction on complex assignments and projects to enhance team capabilities.
  • Assess solution design impacts on IT infrastructure and application architecture standards.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on application systems design and development.
  • Act as an escalation point for technical issue resolution.
  • Provide input on project plans, test plans, and implementation plans, including resource and budget estimates.
  • Analyze, design, code, debug, integrate, and test complex software application solutions.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to ensure systems are developed from a business perspective.
  • Investigate and resolve complex problems, providing timely support for production systems.
  • Proactively identify problems and develop complex solutions.
  • Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders and management.
  • Ensure successful implementation of system improvements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent work experience (4 years of experience in lieu of Bachelor's).
  • 5+ years of experience in application development aligned with the responsibilities of this position.
  • 2+ years of experience as a tech lead for an Agile development team.
  • 5+ years of technical proficiency in Java, J2EE technologies, Microservices, Docker, MuleSoft, Restful APIs, IntelliJ, Python, and GitLab CI/CD DevOps pipelines.
  • 5+ years of experience with the full AWS development lifecycle delivery, including Infra Provisioning, Automation, and Security.
