About the position

The Senior Application Developer will support the State of Washington in modernizing administrative business functions related to finance, procurement, budget, human resources, and payroll. This role involves the analysis, design, and development of changes to financial systems to ensure compliance with the Foundation Data Model (FDM) in preparation for the implementation of Workday on July 1, 2025. The position is a contract role anticipated to last for 12 months, requiring 40 hours of work per week.

Responsibilities

• Analyze, design, and develop changes to align financial systems with the Foundation Data Model (FDM).
• Modify legacy chart of account (COA) formats and make changes to computer programs, databases, user interfaces, integrations, and reporting for FDM compliance.
• Write interface code, design new REST APIs, and refactor existing web service code, providing API documentation and XML schema definition to support Workday integration.
• Translate requirements into technical solutions aligned with business processes and system architecture in collaboration with teams and stakeholders.
• Perform data migration/conversion, update SSIS packages, and ensure smooth transitions to the FDM.
• Engage in end-to-end test cycles, bug fixes, code reviews, code refactoring, assist in UAT test phases, and support for One Washington go-live/stabilization.

Requirements

• Minimum eight years of experience with software development using .NET framework, C#, SQL, WPF, and WCF.
• Strong knowledge of SQL Server, including SSRS and SSIS for data reporting and integration processes.
• Experience working with complex financial systems and knowledge of accounting principles, with specific exposure to Workday's Foundation Data Model (FDM) or similar systems.
• Hands-on experience with data migration, integrations, and exchanges between disparate systems using SSIS or equivalent tools.
• Proficiency in UI technologies, specifically WPF, to modify user interfaces in line with new data models.
• Expertise in designing, modifying, and deploying financial reports using SSRS.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience and qualifications in leading system remediation/development projects, preferably involving financial systems.
• Previous experience working on Workday or similar ERP system integrations.
• Familiarity with Agile/SCRUM methodologies and iterative development cycles.
