About the position

The Sr. PHP Application Developer position at Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) is a critical role within the Office of Contracts Management. This position is responsible for developing and modifying software independently, with a focus on the PEER application, which serves as VUMC's enterprise contracts management solution. The developer will engage in the full programming stack, including database design, PHP programming, and front-end development using CSS and JavaScript. The role requires collaboration with business analysts, stakeholders, and other programmers to ensure the PEER system meets the evolving needs of the organization. The developer will also be tasked with implementing new functions and enhancing existing features, ensuring that the software is clean, maintainable, and efficient while providing a responsive and intuitive user experience. In addition to software development, the Sr. PHP Application Developer will be responsible for ensuring the integrity and security of institutional data, as well as maintaining appropriate documentation for all development and modifications. The position may also involve leading teams and coaching the development of Application Developers, contributing to the overall growth and performance of the team. The developer will be expected to demonstrate mastery in applications development standards and procedures, systems analysis, and systems design, and will play a lead role in application development tasks for complex applications. This role is essential in supporting VUMC's mission to advance health and wellness through innovative programs in patient care, education, and research.

Responsibilities

  • Develops or modifies software.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • 5 years of relevant work experience in software development.
  • Demonstrated expertise in PHP programming and front-end development (CSS, JavaScript).
  • Experience with database design and management.
  • Strong understanding of applications development standards and procedures.
