About the position

The position involves providing technical marketing and sales support for Liebert large UPS systems, which are critical components in power distribution. The role encompasses a variety of responsibilities, including the generation of complete bidding costs and bills of material for large systems, creating custom submittal packages, and quoting switchgear and battery systems. The associate will also review customer drawings and specifications, ensuring that all technical responses are comprehensive and meet customer requirements. This position is crucial as it supports some of the largest and most complex projects within the Liebert UPS business, requiring a high level of technical expertise and attention to detail. The successful candidate will be responsible for generating complete bid proposals that include accurate costing, pricing, technical responses, and submittals. They will define requirements for custom switchgear and solicit quotations from suppliers, responding to general technical inquiries related to the systems supported. Additionally, the associate will review large UPS system orders, prepare order documentation for entry, and provide timely and accurate submittal packages for orders. The role also involves generating purchasing specifications for custom switchgear and updating technical white papers and application tips. The associate will be expected to quote engineered-to-order (ETO) equipment, attend visits with customers, representatives, contractors, and consulting engineers, and complete special projects related to their product specialty. Providing timely and accurate technical responses and quotations to sales representatives and customers is essential to meet and exceed customer expectations. The associate will also be responsible for training or mentoring other team members as needed, ensuring that the team operates effectively and efficiently.

Responsibilities

  • Generates complete bid proposals including bill of material, accurate costing and pricing, technical response, and submittals.
  • Defines requirements for custom switchgear and solicits quotations from suppliers.
  • Responds to general technical inquiries pertinent to the systems supported.
  • Reviews large UPS system orders and prepares order documentation for entry.
  • Provides accurate and timely submittal packages for orders.
  • Generates purchasing specifications for custom switchgear for orders.
  • Generates and/or updates technical white papers and applications tips.
  • Quotes ETO's for supported equipment.
  • Attends visits with customers, reps, contractors, and consulting engineers.
  • Completes special projects pertinent to assigned product specialty.
  • Provides timely and accurate technical responses and quotations to the sales rep and/or customers to meet and exceed customer expectations with error free pricing and content.
  • Provides technical solutions that exceed the capability of the competition.
  • Completes timely and accurate order reviews.
  • Provides accurate and timely completion of customer drawing submittal packages.
  • Provides accurate and timely completion of switchgear purchasing specifications.
  • May train or provide mentorship to other team members.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering required; degree in Electrical Engineering preferred (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
  • 5+ years of experience in technical scope review and formal proposal development.
  • 5+ years of experience with large power distribution systems, 3-Phase UPS systems, switchgear, or batteries.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient in MS Office.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Self-starter with good work habits and organization.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and one-line diagrams.
  • Good understanding of 3 phase power systems.
  • Working knowledge of the NEC.
  • Strong working knowledge of batteries, switchgear, and supported products.
  • Ability to provide effective training for sales representatives and customers.
