About the position

The Sr. Application Systems Engineer at Axom Technologies is responsible for providing software development support for mission-related components and applications within the Army Training Support Center (ATSC) at Fort Eustis, Virginia. This role involves managing the application engineering team, ensuring the design and maintenance of information systems applications, and supporting the development of internal application systems for remote processing and data archival. The position requires a strong background in IT service and infrastructure support, along with expertise in programming and database management.

Responsibilities

  • Implement, maintain, support, develop, and program information systems applications.
  • Perform analysis, design, and troubleshoot automated information systems and applications.
  • Manage the overall design and day-to-day operations of the application engineering team.
  • Provide database administration and application engineering support.
  • Support the development and implementation of internal application systems for remote processing and data archival.
  • Prepare various technical documents including Operational Concept Descriptions and Software Development Plans.
  • Maintain internal automated information systems including modeling, database design, and documentation.
  • Perform analysis, design, and troubleshooting in line with the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
  • Produce clean, efficient code based on specifications.
  • Conduct testing, peer review, and quality assurance analysis.
  • Provide SQL and application engineering support.
  • Produce high-quality documentation for applications and systems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science.
  • Minimum of 10 years' experience executing IT service and infrastructure support.
  • Certifications: Azure Database Administrator Associate, C#, SQL 70-461.
  • Programming knowledge in C#, Microsoft .NET, and SQL environments.
  • Experience with database software including Microsoft SQL Server, Microsoft C#, Microsoft JavaScript, Oracle, and Visual Studio.
  • Experience in the Windows environment and network planning.
  • Familiarity with STIG guidelines and RMF/CCRI processes.
  • Experience with JavaScript and .NET.
  • Experience with Azure and/or Azure DevOps.
  • Experience in Full Stack Development.
  • Experience using SQL Server and/or SQL Server Management Studio.
  • Experience using Microsoft SharePoint.

Nice-to-haves

  • Supported the U.S. Army or other DoD/Federal Agency.
  • Effective communication skills to interface with senior military officials, managers, and subordinates.
