About the position

The Senior Application Analyst position at Craig Hospital is responsible for supporting the application portfolio, mentoring other analysts, and managing projects related to patient care processes. This role involves designing and building clinical content workflows to enhance user experience at the point of care, while also identifying areas for improvement in collaboration with the Applications Manager and Director of IT. The position is hybrid, requiring residence in the Denver metro area, and focuses on maximizing the benefits of clinical applications across the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support for all clinical applications including after-hour maintenance and end user support as required.
  • Assist users with ongoing application configuration/system management.
  • Research and analyze system performance and assist with improvement measures.
  • Provide on-call staffing for user support for all clinical applications as assigned.
  • Design, develop and build solutions within the Electronic Medical Record.
  • Obtain and maintain required certifications required by Craig IT Department.
  • Develop custom clinical application reports for end-users and assist in teaching end-users basic report writer skills.
  • Lead implementations, upgrades, and configure clinical database applications.
  • Establish contact and maintain ongoing relationship with the appropriate 3rd party personnel to ensure ongoing exchange of information relative to SMC applications and their inter-connectivity to the Craig systems.
  • Plan and organize day-to-day activities and short and long term projects; in-depth knowledge of organizational and project planning processes and ability to produce and maintain high quality planning documents.
  • Define and document clinical IT project objectives, timelines, and deliverables that support clinical goals in collaboration with clinical and IT staff and management.
  • Utilize analysis and design techniques, including needs assessment, specification development, and quantitative methods and planning within current/future projects.
  • Proactively manage changes in project scope, identify potential crises, and assist in devising contingency plans.
  • Communicating project expectations and progression to team members and stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion throughout the life-cycle of each project.
  • Assess implementation strategies and the impact those strategies will have on workflows and operations.
  • Assist application owners in the development and delivery of application training to end-users.
  • Utilize project management software effectively in support of IT projects.
  • Develop plans to materialize strategy; gathering, analyzing and organizing information in order to assist leadership with designing progressive paths among constant change.
  • Mentor application analyst on honing application skill set.

Requirements

  • Experience as a clinician in a hospital setting is strongly preferred.
  • Epic Certification is preferred and required within six months of start date.
  • Bachelor's degree required, BS in computer science or strong equivalent work experience is required.
  • 3-5+ years applications support experience in Healthcare IT required.
  • Prior experience as an Analyst or Super User in a healthcare setting required.
  • Epic experience and/or experience implementing electronic health records (EHR) preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to maintain good interpersonal relationships.
  • Thorough knowledge of current primary clinical software applications used within office and clinical environments including codification (ICD-10).
  • Skilled in data integration, interface and workflow knowledge.
  • Strong understanding of IT governance and processes and good knowledge of System Development Life Cycle Methodology concepts.
  • Efficiently manage multiple projects while meeting appropriate timelines.
  • Strong knowledge of relational databases and client server concepts.
  • Self-motivated and effectively works independently, organizing time effectively and coordinating appropriate resources.
  • Skilled in both verbal and written communication.
  • Strong customer-oriented people skills.
  • Proven analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Commitment to quality and results.
  • Strong understanding of computer hardware components and functions and basic networking knowledge.
