About the position

The Sr. Application Engineer - Switchgear / Solutions at Siemens is responsible for preparing comprehensive technical and commercial proposals for the Electrification & Automation Business Unit. This role involves collaborating with the sales team to support customers in various markets, including Data Centers, Semiconductors, Industrial, Construction, and Utilities, by providing tailored solutions that meet their needs while ensuring competitive pricing. The engineer will also engage in discussions with customers and facilitate a smooth handover to the project execution team upon winning projects.

Responsibilities

  • Review customer documents to identify the best scope of work suited to the customer application.
  • Prepare 2D and 3D layout drawings using digital tools to demonstrate the intended solution.
  • Configure the product's technical attributes using in-house proprietary tools.
  • Prepare RFQ packages and collaborate with vendors for third-party products to secure compliant quotations.
  • Complete quote evaluations, develop a cost model, and secure approvals from senior management.
  • Develop customer proposals and engage in discussions with them in support of the sales team.
  • Complete an effective handover to the project execution team upon winning the project.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in an EPC, engineering, manufacturing, utility, or industrial corporate environment.
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical or mechanical engineering.
  • Familiarity with ANSI, IEEE, UL, and NEMA standards for power distribution applications.
  • Experience with the design and application of electrical power distribution products and power systems.
  • Knowledge of relay P&C schemes, schematics, and communication network diagrams.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States on a continual and permanent basis without company sponsorship.

Nice-to-haves

  • Preferred 5+ years of experience in the Electrical Power Industry.
  • Knowledge and experience with IBC, NEC, and NFPA codes and standards for E Houses/Buildings.
  • PE/PMP certification is a plus.
