About the position

Monolithic Power Systems, Inc. (MPS) is seeking a Senior Applications Engineer to join our dynamic team in San Jose, CA. This senior-level position is pivotal in application engineering, focusing on defining and debugging analog IC products specifically tailored for automotive computing applications. The role involves providing technical support to key customers, developing reference circuits, and authoring datasheets and application/design notes. In this role, you will be responsible for delivering application technical support and training to key customers and field application engineers. You will collaborate closely with design engineers, the field applications team, and marketing to define and debug analog and digital IC products, particularly in the areas of DC/DC converters, core power conversion, and DrMOS applications. Your expertise will be crucial in developing application reference circuits and system-level power management solutions that cater to the automotive computing market. Additionally, you will be tasked with writing datasheets, application notes, and design notes, as well as contributing articles to magazines and conferences to promote MPS products. This position requires a strong background in switch mode power supplies, including DC/DC, AC/DC, or inverters, with a particular emphasis on low voltage/high current multi-phase buck converter design, testing, and optimization for CPU/GPU power delivery applications. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and will be self-motivated to drive projects forward. A Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering (MSEE) or higher is required, along with a minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in the field.

Responsibilities

  • Provide application technical support and technical training for key customers and field application engineers.
  • Work with design engineers, field applications team, and marketing to define and debug analog/digital IC products in DC/DC converters, core power conversion, and DrMOS applications.
  • Develop application reference circuits and system level power management solutions for automotive computing markets.
  • Write datasheets, application notes, design notes and papers in magazines and conferences to promote MPS products.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in switch mode power supplies including DC/DC, AC/DC or inverters.
  • Previous experience with low voltage/high current multi-phase buck converter design/test/optimization for CPU/GPU power delivery applications is highly preferred.
  • Fluent communication skills in English.
  • Excellent customer communication skills.
  • Excellent writing and presentation skills.
  • Self-motivated.
  • Previous experience in a power supply manufacturer or power management IC company is a plus.
  • MSEE or higher required.
